What is a Layered SVG File?

A layered SVG is an SVG file that, once loaded into your cutting machine or laser, will cut each layer on a separate piece of material.

What file types are included with each design?

SVG (file names begin with SVG_): For Cricut, Brother Scan n Cut, Glowforge, xTool, WeCreat, and most other machines.

.studio3 (file names begin with SS_): For Silhouette Designer, Designer Plus, and Business Edition.

.lbrn (file names begin with LB_): For Lightburn (Coming Soon).

How do I receive my files?

After purchase, you will get a download link via email. You can also access your files by creating an account on our website using the same email address that you used to purchase your files and clicking “My Downloads" in the top navigation bar. Learn more about downloading files.

Is there a time limit for downloading my files?

No, your files will remain in your account indefinitely. We recommend downloading them and keeping a backup.

Are there instructions?

Yes! Each project comes with a PDF instruction manual. We are also creating a growing library of tutorials here.

What frames, glue, or other supplies do you use?

Do you have more designs?

Using the Files

Title

Are the files compatible with Mac, PC, or mobile devices?

Yes, our files work with both Mac and PC. They can be used on mobile devices, but we recommend using a computer for the best experience.

Which cutting machines or lasers are these files compatible with?

Our files work on most modern cutting machines and lasers (such as Cricut, Silhouette, Brother Scan n Cut, Glowforge, xTool, WeCreat and more).

As long as your machine software can read layered SVG files (most can), our projects will likely work for you. We also include files specifically created for Silhouette and Lightburn to make the process even easier for users of those machines.

Click here to find tutorials for using our files with various machines.

If you find out that your machine is not compatible with our files, contact us and we will issue a full refund.

What size are these projects and can I resize them?

All designs are sized at 8”x8” but can be easily resized to any size in your machine's software. Take care when sizing down, as small details may be lost or cut poorly. And remember when you resize, the photo slots will increase or decrease in size as well.

Can I customize the text in the designs?

Some files include the option to add custom names and/or dates. Further, our files are unlocked and can be modified by advanced users though we don’t currently offer support for more advanced file editing. *Please note: the main words in the designs are not an editable font*

Find tutorials for customizable files on our tutorials page here.

Are the number of photo slots in the picture frame designs editable?

Most of the projects come with options for 1, 2, 3, or 6 photos. The number of photo slots is not editable unless you have very advanced design editing skills.

What size photos do I use with the picture frame designs?

At the standard 8”x8” project size, these are the photo dimensions used:

  • 1-photo designs generally use 4”x6” photos (a few use 5”x7” photos)
  • 2-photo designs use 3”x4” photos
  • 3-photo designs use two 2”x2”  photos and one 4”x4” photo
  • 6-photo designs use six 2”x2” photos

Can the picture frame projects be used for scrapbooking?

Yes! Many of our customers use our designs for scrapbooking! If you plan to resize the projects, keep in mind the photo slots will also increase or decrease in size and you may need to come up with creative ways to fit standard sized photos in your new design size.

Technical Help

How do I extract a .zip file?

For Mac users, simply double click the .zip file and it will automatically extract all the folders.

For Windows users:

  • Right-click the zipped folder saved to your computer.
  • Choose "Extract All..." (an extraction wizard will begin).
  • Click [Next >].
  • Click [Browse...] and navigate to where you would like to save the files.
  • Click [Next >].
  • Click [Finish].

I am getting an error when I extract the files on my Windows machine

A small number of Windows users receive ERROR CODE 0x80010135 when they try to extract the files. If this happens, try extracting the file using these instructions:

  • Go to whatever folder includes the ZIP file you can't extract in Explorer.
  • Right-click on the ZIP and select the context menu's Extract All option.
  • Click Browse within the Extract Compressed window.
  • Then click on the C: drive and press the Select Folder button. The extraction path should be just C:\.
  • Click Extract to unzip the archive to the root directory.

If you have tried this and still need help, contact us and our support team will be happy to help.

I can't find my SVG file on my Windows computer

Sometimes Microsoft computers display your SVG as a “Microsoft Edge” file or a “Chrome” file. Don't worry, this is still your SVG file. The SVG file names all begins with "SVG_" and no matter what your computer names them, this is the file most machines will use.

Some of the designs are missing on my Mac computer

On Mac computers, sometimes the folders display as if they are stacked on top of each other, hiding the folders beneath them. To fix this, check the “column” display option in the Finder and you should see all of your folders listed there. Click here for a video showing how to do this.

Why isn't my project fitting in the frame?

Make sure you are using our recommended shadow box frames listed in our supply list and that you made your project at the standard 8"x8" size.

For wood or acrylic projects, the recommended frames fit designs that are 5 layers or less with materials that are 1/8" or thinner. For designs with more layers, you will need to use thinner materials. Also, if you are gluing your layers together before putting the project in a frame, make sure the edges are perfectly aligned. If not, you may need to sand the edges slightly in order for the project to fit in the frame.

For paper projects, you can use the recommended shadow box frames with or without foam spacers. If you do not use spacers, you can use any regular frame for paper projects, but make sure you have cut the project at the correct size for the frame you are using.

Design Requests and Licensing

Title

Can I make a design request?

Yes! Contact us, and we’ll add your request to our Customer Request List.

Can I sell the projects I make with your files?

Yes (with rules)!

We love supporting small businesses, that’s why each design includes a limited commercial license to sell up to 100 physical products made by you. We also offer an extended license for customers who need it.

You may not sell the digital files or print on demand products.

Read complete license terms here.

Can I use your images in my marketing?

Great question! All marketing images must be created by you. However, we do include a brochure with an image of every single design option that you are welcome to share with potential customers.

What most people do is create a handful of samples - the ones that resonate most with your customers - photograph those and write in the listing that many more options are available upon request and that you can send a brochure to potential clients. You could even list several of the options available. This way you are able to highlight your own unique style and let your work speak for itself.

Contact us with any additional questions!

Do you have other words for grandparents besides Grandma & Grandpa in your picture frame bundle?

Due to popular request, the bundle now includes blank options to add your own custom nicknames to relevant designs. With so many adorable nicknames for grandparents, we could not include them all, so we've added these blank customizable files so you can add any nickname you like.
